And the truth about how clean your Jewellery really is….
While we are being constantly being reminded to wash and sanitize our hands to stop the spread of Coronavirus, it might be time to think about the last time you had your Jewellery professionally cleaned.
So much bacteria can build up under your settings. Did you really take your rings off when you made pasta or rissoles, what about in the garden, swimming at the pool or even making playdough with the kids. Not to mention all the soap scum from the shower, guaranteed its pretty dirty under there.
There are other reasons then hygiene to get your rings professionally cleaned. A jeweller can check for loose or missing stones but best of all can maintain the beauty and sparkle of your precious pieces. At Nique Jewellery we recommend a professional clean every 6 months.
When your jewellery is left with us to be cleaned it goes through a four step process;
1 - Inspection under a 20X loupe so we can see if any stones are damaged, lost or loose.
2- Bath - jewellery is put into a ultra sonic machine that vibrates with a warm cleaning solution to remove all the bacteria and material caught. Opals and Emeralds will never be put in contact with any heat or solutions.
3- Polish - we now use a polishing buff to remove all scratches and make the gold, silver or platinum shine again.
4 - Bath - a second ultra sonic bath is done to remove any excess polish.
