Hand Sanitiser

I thought now would be a good time to talk about the effects
of hand sanitiser on your Jewellery. If we simplify the ingredients of hand
sanitiser, we know it is predominantly alcohol.  Alcohol when in contact with jewellery can
cause wear and tear, especially with white gold pieces that are Rhodium Plated or
have a patterned or matte finish.

Diamonds are hardy enough that they will have no damage but
lets take the time to think about stones that are not as hard.

Lets think about Emeralds and Opals.  NEVER use any type of cleaning agents, hand
santiser, lotions or any chemicals of any description in close proximity of Emeralds
and Opals. These stones are so porous that damage will occur with any chemical.

I understand that handwashing and hand sanitiser are a way of
life for many especially at the moment with Covid 19, but you still need to Be
the best custodian of your jewellery that you can.

So Lets be aware of what comes in contact with our precious
Jewellery. Take a minute to think what you are doing while wearing your loved
pieces.
